Long used in both Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, this intensely bitter herb has powerful antiviral activity. Also known as Bearberry, this herb has a long history of use for urinary tract infections. A source of the phytochemical arbutin, it is metabolized by the kidneys and excreted as antibacterial hydroquinones. Hydroquinones are an active antimicrobial especially in alkaline urine (do not use with Cranberry juice). It is useful for cystitis, urethritis, prostatitis, and mild nephritis. Uva-Ursi is contra-indicated for pregnant women.

California Poppy is a common West coast wildflower. Stinging Nettle is widely known for the rash it causes when fresh. Motherwort fresh herb (Leonurus cardiaca) *

Oat fresh milky seed (Avena sativa):*
Strengthens and nourishes the nervous system.  It is indicated for nervous exhaustion, sexual neurasthenia and occipital pain extending toward the spine. Oat reduces withdrawal effects from nicotine and caffeine. Used for neurasthenia (nervous exhaustion), anxiety, impaired sleep patterns and weak libido, milky Oat is appropriate for chronic stress. Skullcap fresh herb (Scutellaria lateriflora):*
Indicated for nervous exhaustion, tremors, palsies, trigeminal neuralgia and Parkinson's disease. One of our best nervines, Skullcap strengthens depleted, irritated nervous systems and helps to reduce anxiety, irritation and nervousness.

Plantain fresh leaf (Plantago major):*
Primarily used for its demulcent, healing qualities both internally and externally. A rich source of chlorophyll and allantoin, it speeds the healing of skin and mucus membrane tissue especially in the stomach, bladder and vaginal tract. Plantain is useful for gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, ulcerative colitis, interstitial cystitis, and dental pain.

Licorice root (Glycerrhiza glabra or uralensis):*
Has an ancient history of use in China and the Middle East. This intensely sweet root is an adaptogen, demulcent, expectorant, pectoral, antiviral and antidepressant. Licorice strengthens endocrine function, especially the adrenals, ovaries, Isles of Langerhans and hypothalamus making it useful for chronic fatigue syndrome, menopause, hypoglycemia and autoimmune disease. The demulcent action heals mucous membrane tissue especially the stomach (ulcers), large and small intestine (IBS) and lung (dry, irritated cough). Excessive use of Licorice can elevate blood pressure.

Lobelia herb & seed (Lobelia inflata):*
Has been used for thousands of years by Native Americans then later by Thomsonian and Eclectic physicians as a strong antispasmodic to the lungs, heart and musculoskeletal system. Eleuthero root (Eleutherococcus senticosis):*
An excellent adaptogen that normalizes immune activity.  Its tonic effects on the adrenal glands and nervous system include reducing fatigue, stress and depression.  For the circulatory system, Eleuthero reduces atherosclerosis and normalizes blood pressure.  It is frequently used especially by athletes to increase performance.

Schisandra berry/Wu Wei Zi (Schisandra chinensis):*
Translates as Five Flavor Fruit. This herb is a powerful adaptogen strengthening hypothalamic/adrenal function and normalizing nervous system and immune activity.  Schisandra also acts as a mild, non-habit forming stimulant and a hepatoprotective agent. It astringes the jing--the vital essence--and is rich in anti-inflammatory flavonoids.

Hawthorn berry, leaf and flower (Crataegus monogyna):*
Indications include functional and organic heart weakness with pain, weak tonus of the heart muscle, angina, valvular insufficiency, mitral valve prolapse, heart murmur, venous stasis, poor capillary & venous integrity, and varicose veins.  Hawthorn lowers cholesterol levels, lowers blood pressure and prevents deposition of plaque on arterial walls.  This herb may potentiate other heart medications, i.e. beta-blockers.

Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum, G. sinensis):*
Indicated for immune hypo (Cancer, AIDS, Chronic Fatigue) or hyper functioning (Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Crohn's Disease, and Ankylosing Spondylitis). Reishi is an active hepatoprotective agent as well as a cardiotonic, antioxidant and nervine.

Sarsaparilla rhizome (Smilax ornata):*
A mild adaptogen and contains plant sterols which are anti-inflammatory.  It is used for psoriasis, arthritis, gout, bursitis, colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammation of connective tissue.

Cordyceps mycelium (Cordyceps sinensis):*

We prepare our Goldenrod Extract from fresh (undried) flowering tops of Solidago spp. plants which are Certified Organically Grown on our own farm without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides or are Custom Wildcrafted in their natural wild habitat. To assure optimal extraction of Goldenrod's bioactive compounds, the uppermost tops of the plants are hand-harvested when just beginning to flower and are then taken directly to our laboratory and promptly extracted while still fresh and succulent.
