Alpha-lipoic acid was discovered in 1951, and has long been recognized as a coenzyme needed to break down sugar for energy production. It was not until 1988 that researchers realized that not only is alpha-lipoic acid itself an antioxidant, but the body converts some of it to dihydrolipoic acid, which possesses antioxidant properties. The body is capable of making some alpha-lipoic acid, but in certain conditions, the body may be unable to make enough.

Magnesium is an essential nutrient required to maintain a healthy body. Research shows that 72% of adults in America do not receive the recommended daily intake (RDI) for magnesium. It is often thought that magnesium needs can be easily met through a daily multiple vitamin, but multiple vitamins containing magnesium typically only consist of 10% of the magnesium required daily. The inadequate intake of magnesium can lead to many health consequences due to magnesium's diverse roles in the body. The importance of magnesium includes calcium utilization, bone and heart health. In addition, magnesium has been shown to support muscle discomfort, relax nerves and help improve sleep.

L-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid synthesized in the body from the essential amino acid phenylalanine. L-Tyrosine is the direct precursor to several important neurotransmitters, which affect many functions in the brain, including mood, stress response, mental function, satiety and sex drive. L-Tyrosine is also an important component of hormones that are produced in the thyroid. These hormones are in turn key for managing metabolism. L-Tyrosine is required to form melanin, the dark pigment present in the skin to shield the body from the harmful effects of ultraviolet light.*

A conditionally essential amino acid, L-Tyrosine is one of the most important elements in maintaining neurotransmitter balance in the brain. Though the body has the ability to synthesize enough L-Tyrosine from phenylalanine to meet its daily physiological demands, in some instances supplementation with L-Tyrosine may be necessary. Since L-Tyrosine is an important cofactor in the production of the neurotransmitters associated with proper mood, norepinephrine and dopamine, L-tyrosine may be beneficial to those seeking to stabilize their frame of mind. Similarly, those with phenylketonuria, who cannot consume phenylalanine, may benefit from L-Tyrosine supplementation. L-Tyrosine can also be useful in promoting nerve and thyroid health.*

Milky Oat (Avena sativa):
One of the great nerve trophorestoratives. It gently and gradually helps to restore emotional balance and a calm demeanor. It is useful for anxiety, depression or irritability. Animal studies show that milky oat can enhance stress response, improve learning and decrease social avoidance.

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera):
One of the most esteemed Rasayana or rejuvenative herbs in Ayurvedic medicine. It is a calming adaptogen that also enhances testosterone levels and libido. In a human clinical trial, it enhanced libido and sexual performance as well as improving many parameters associated with aging. Withania has also shown the ability to reduce the effects of chronic stress and alleviate depression and anxiety.

Black Cohosh (Actaea racemosa):
Black Cohosh is often referred to as the menopause herb, but this is not really accurate. While it has some benefit for relieving menopausal symptoms in women, one of its most effective uses is for hormonal depression, which includes andropausal depression in men.

Mimosa bark (Albizia julibrissin):
Known in Chinese medicine as He Huan Pi or Collective Happiness Herb, the name is fitting as it is one of the most effective mood elevators known. It can be used for depression, chronic grief and "broken hearts". Animal studies show that it has antidepressant and anxiolytic effects.

Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens):
Saw Palmetto is mostly known for its beneficial effects on the prostate gland. It not only reduces symptoms of BPH, it also helps relieve 'Grumpy Old Man Syndrome', which is exacerbated by increasing levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Saw Palmetto can inhibit conversion of testosterone to DHT by inhibiting 5-alpha reductase.

Pulsatilla (Pulsatilla vulgaris):
was a popular remedy of the Eclectic physicians. It is used in very small amounts for hormonal depression, anxiety, irritability, moodiness and 'fly off the handle' anger. A closely related Korean species of Pulsatilla has been found to have neuroprotective and cognitive-enhancing effects in animal studies.

The Benefits of Fish Oil with Whole Omegas: Wholemega Fish Oil Reduces Triglycerides.
Omega 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9's are fatty acids found in wild fish and often referred to as "good fats." Why so good Primarily because omegas are present and play an important role in every human cell. Specifically, omega fatty acids serve to nourish brain, heart, eye, and kidney tissues. They have been shown to benefit cardiovascular, immune, and digestive health in addition to supporting a healthy metabolism and inflammation response.

Wholemega Whole Fish Oil supplement delivers the natural profile of 17 omega fatty acids found in one of Nature's true superfoods: Wild Alaskan Salmon. In fact, taking the daily serving of Wholemega for a week provides the same amount of whole omega fatty acids as three servings of Wild Alaskan Salmon. Wholemega Whole Fish Oil has been the subject of multiple human clinical trials - with compelling results - including an ability to lower triglyceride levels in as few as 14 days.

A Difference That's Clear: Fractionated, Isolated, & "Purified"
The dull, yellow hue and watery texture of conventional fish oil supplements is symbolic of "purified" products. This heavy distillation (which can be necessary to remove contaminants) can fractionate, isolate, and destroy beneficial compounds that give fish oil its naturally vibrant color and clarity.

Wholemega: The Difference is Clear
Wholemega fish oil is different. The Extra-Virgin process used to extract Wholemega, similar to that used in fine olive oil, delivers an oil that is striking in color and transparency. This gentle, food-grade process preserves numerous beneficial compounds - including Vitamin D3 and Astaxanthin. The brilliant hue in Wholemega fish oil supplements comes from Astaxanthin - an antioxidant that is naturally found in Wild Salmon and abundant in this Extra-Virgin fish oil supplement.

Wholemega vs Purified Fish Oil: Wildly Pure
All Wholemega fish oil supplements contain Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil that comes from protected, recognized sustainable fisheries. This extra-virgin fish oil comes from only 100% wild fish stocks and does not include genetically modified or farmed salmon. Our herbal blends are reviewed and NON-GMO Project verified.

Food Supplement or "Supplemental Food"
Our philosophy on nutrition is simple; seek the benefits of whole food. While others create food supplements, New Chapter strives to deliver Supplemental Food. Food that our bodies inherently recognize and easily utilize. Wholemega continues this tradition in fish oil with its 100% Wild Alaskan Salmon oil. Alaska maintains one of the world's most highly protected and managed natural fisheries and has outlawed salmon fish farming. By using only wild, sustainably caught Alaskan salmon - among the cleanest and most pure fish stocks in the world - chemical processing to deliver purity is not required. Our extra virgin, low-heat process is all that's needed to deliver Nature's whole basket of vital omega fatty acids and naturally beneficial nutrients, like Vitamin D3 and astaxanthin. As a FOOD GRADE oil, Wholemega whole fish oil is extensively tested for detectable contaminants that other fish oil supplements must "purify" or distill out.

Freshly milled organic Ginkgo leaf is combined with a standardized Ginkgo extract containing 24% flavone glycosides and 6% terpene lactones.

Ginkgo biloba is the world's oldest living species of tree, dating back more than 200 million years. Individual trees live as long as 1,000 years. It is now commonly planted in the cities of Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia, and the United States because of its hardiness and resistance to infection and pollution.

Although the medicinal use of the seed originates from China nearly 5,000 years ago, it was not until the 20th century that the leaves of the tree were used in European herbal medicine. Many of Ginkgo's current uses originate from research and clinical observations during the 1950's in Europe. In France and Germany, it is one of the most popular prescribed medicines.

In the United States, Ginkgo is one of the top-selling herbal supplements. This popularity can be attributed to large number of successful clinical studies that have been published. The Federal Government's Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) research program is currently funding several studies featuring this herb.

These capsules supply the scientifically validated dosage of extract (60 mg extracted to supply 24% flavone glycosides and 6% terpene lactones). This is supported by the addition of pure unadulterated Ginkgo leaf. The whole leaf has hundreds of compounds and flavonoids related to the flavone glycosides, which have yet to be studied.
