Black Cohosh is best known as a normalizing herb for women’s hormones, and it is especially helpful during the menopausal years. It helps relax and balance the female reproductive system, aiding in painful or irregular menstruation, cramping, and hormone imbalance. But this herb is not just for women! Black Cohosh is also a key ingredient in any herbal protocol for neuralgia and sciatica. It helps to normalize nervous system functions, helping to heal damaged nerves and prevent “misfiring” and nerve pain.  It can also be very helpful for arthritis and muscular pain. Black Cohosh is also a relaxing nervine and a mild antidepressant, especially when combined with other nervine and sedative herbs. As an anti-spasmodic, Black Cohosh can be employed in cases of whooping cough and cramp. Combined with other herbs, it can help with asthma and bronchial spasms. In the Chinese medical tradition, Dong Quai Root has been commonly used in women's health formulas in conjunction with other herbs.* Maca has a rich history of traditional use as a panacea and is referred to as 'Peruvian ginseng.' Specifically, it is prized for its adaptogenic and nutritive qualities.
The early 20th century American physicians (Eclectics) prized Red Clover as an excellent alterative. Alteratives, known in folk medicine as "blood cleansers," were seen as herbs that assisted organs in the removal of metabolic waste and toxins from the circulatory system. This valuable herb was the main ingredient in several traditional formulas such as the Hoxey Formula and the Trifolium Compound. More recent studies indicate that Red Clover has phytoestrogenic properties, and it is currently being investigated for menopausal symptom relief. Holistic practitioners believe that phytoestrogens in plants help to normalize estrogen levels by their weak estrogen-mimicking ability. This activity is under investigation.

Until more information is available, women with estrogen-dependent tumors such as breast cancer should avoid using Red Clover. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use if pregnant or nursing. The whole organic Chaste Tree berry is milled immediately prior to encapsulation to retain the natural constituents present in this herb including flavonoids, iridoid glycosides and terpenoids.

Chaste Tree is grown in Mediterranean countries and central Asia. Its dried fruit has a pepper-like aroma and flavor, and has been used in many traditional preparations to support female reproductive hormones. The Ancient Greeks reported Chaste Tree berry helpful in supporting female hormonal balance. The Greek physician Hippocrates (460-377 B.C.) wrote, "If blood flows from the womb, let the woman drink dark wine in which the leaves of the Chaste Tree have been steeped."

Chaste Tree berry is now the subject of several clinical trials. Preliminary results are supporting traditional use. In Germany, Chaste Tree is considered safe, effective, and economical. It is accepted by, and widely used by, gynecologists.

Organic Chaste Tree contains several different constituents, including flavonoids, iridoid glycosides, and terpenoids. The whole fruit, rather than any one of its individual constituents, appears to be necessary for the medicinal activity.
